Important Safety Issue: Please Read!
In the last week I have had 3 cars that needed to go to the dealer because we could smell raw gas around their cars. We suspected a gas leak, and we were right. All of these cars were 2006 models, but I don't think the problem will be limited to just that model year.
What ended up being the problem is the fuel pump. The fuel pumps were leaking out of the top of the gas tank. This is a major safety issue, sine fires could be deadly, and costly.
If you smell the smell of raw fuel after you park your car, and especially if you can smell it while driving, then please go get this looked at.
There were no check engine lights on these cars to indicate a problem, and their economy gauge still showed normal, but the were pouring a substantial amount of gas out, and were filling up more frequently then needed too.
