Inspection Failed. Need Advice
Recently I had a P0496 Code kick out. Took it to local auto parts place and they cleared it. It didnt come back. Then yesterday I take my car to get inspected and it fails due to Oxygen Sensor and Fuel Evaporation Control. Are these two and the code related? If so can anyone suggest what actions to take to get this **** resloved? Thanks in advance.
well this is the description for the p0496 - EVAP flow during a non-purge condition, now that could kick in an 02 efficiency code if the first code is causing your car to run rich. would like to know what the other code exactly is to be sure. but the first one is most likely cause by a failed evap purge canister or its clogged. you could try running a fuel line cleaner in your tank and see if that helps.
You should be having the inspection done by the dealer.
All the emission stuff is covered for longer than your basic warranty.(Not a 100 % on that though.)
Call your dealer and find out from them what can be done with it because it failed.

you fail inspections for engine codes? brutal... as far as i know here in Canada that's not a safety issue... they don't care how badly your car runs as long as it runs badly safely. or does this not meet US emission standards?
This may be something I have to venture into in the near future lol....I hate codes...

Yeah I've driven over 100 miles since the codes were cleared. Like I said the Check engine light is no longer on and the codes were cleared way prior to me getting inspected and it still failed.
The O2 codes are probably readiness failures. driving more, inlcuding idling for at least 30seconds at startup will help trigger those to pass if they havent run yet.
The P0496 is probably still a problem, and just hasnt failed enough times to set the MIL. You need to get it fixed.
