intermediate shaft???

I've had a clunk/pop situation going on in the front end for a couple weeks now happens at low speeds when turning the wheel and usually involves the gas pedal

Visually inspected cabs end links and strut mounts couple different times with nothing found and never could duplicate the sound without the vehicle moving

Replaced trailing cabs after finding them partially torn upon removal, felt better but still have the clunk just not as much

Today after rechecking tightness on various control arm bolts, realized I had never tried to duplicate the sound with the engine off and no power steering .turn the wheel right and boom everytime no matter the position of the wheel it will clunk but only to the right, it kinda clicks then stops almost like skipping a gear. Visually inspected the shaft with a person turning the wheel to recreate the sound/feel. Did not see play in shaft but its hard to watch it work under the hood, but you could feel the clunk in your feet and in the wheel car when sitting in the car.

Last thing is when inspecting the intermediate shaft I noticed it looked like the sway bar had been moving side to side in its bushing. The bushing itself look to be in good shape but on each side there was about an eighth of an inch of clean metal showing, leading me to believe that it had been moving side to side and I'm not even sure if this is normal.

So what do you guys think? Intermediate shaft? sway bar bushing/ end links? or should I keep looking elsewhere?

i jsut replaced my intermediate shaft the other day for the same reasons, i was chasing a clunk and click sound. i was led to buy one off of rockauto for $70 and its better quality/thicker than the oem piece. install isn't a walk in the park but its pretty straight forwards and nothing needs to be taken off to get to the shaft. the grommet was the hardest part to do.

My clunk is gone

Man I've had this same issue mostly after installing my front koni inserts, but me and Japeatr couldn't figure it out. I have the exact same sounds, ect that you're experiencing and I also have a 2010 lnf around 54k. How many miles ya have? I thought mine could be the strut mounts since I put the insterts in, especially being stiffer ect. But I haven't checked the intermediate shaft yet, which I've read isn't properly lubricated from the factory.

Almost 81k
I inspected the strut mounts twice once with the car on the ground and once with the car in the air I could find no play or no popping

There is a TSB that tells dealers to "lube and exercise the intermediate shaft"
I tried it, lasted about 2 weeks, lol.
I replaced mine and clunk is gone, but with old shaft in hand you can not feel
any kind of play in any position........I've heard of a few steering collums being replaced.
