well the throttle body and mass airflow sensor are really finicky. long as your intake is wet you are sucking in water while in boost so i'd let it sit for a day or take the filter off and replace or dry off... unplug ur battery for 15 mins, then drive it easy. listen to your car make sure its not knocking or anything... water can f your **** up really quick on any car.

both... water does not combust so when it gets into your motor where air and gas are supposed to be combusting... the water will **** **** up. like bend a rod, pop a piston, etc. you dont want that. also water in the engine can cause rust and corrosion which is also bad

The biggest thing with large amounts of water getting into your engine is because it is a liquid and will not compress which will cause the engine to hydro lock. Like all the guys mentioned can destroy the engine. I would let it dry as well and check it again maybe try cranking the engine by hand too and see how smooth it turns.

If a very small amount of water gets in it should not hurt it too bad due to the fact that the heat in the combustion chamber will cause it to vaporize. Old motor heads used to use a tiny vacuum hose on cars to suck water into the into the engine as a mist to use it to keep the cylinders cool and gain HP this is the basic concept i believe became known as meth-injection

Maybe you need a new shield.

My fender liner under where the air filter is, is ripped out. Also have K&N with new hydroshield and no problems in the rain, thus far.

Take all it spark plugs out and crank the engine and shoot out any water that may be in there, make sure to pull fuel pump fuse first
