Key stuck in ACC/ON position...

Driving home from a friends house...pull up in my driveway and yeah...key is just stuck in the on/acc position...wiggling the steering wheel wont get it out.

I read that some models have some sort of hole with a spring or some sh*t under the steering wheel and if u push it or pull it it comes out...but there is no hole like that on mine

The worst part is the only way to get the damn car to shut off is by purposely dumping the clutch with my e brake on to stall it...

Also, it's aggravating as hell because I have to keep unhooking and hooking up the negative on my battery so the damn thing doesn't drain.

I'm so sick of all the problems with this thing... First the annoying power steering...now this stuff...
This is my first and will be my last Chevy.

Anyway...can anyone help?

PS: it's an 09 Cobalt SS/TC

Sounds like fucked ignition tumblers to me. I had the same problem, the stealership put new tumblers/ignition in and haven't had the problem since. Sounds like you need a trip to your dealership man.

That is incorrect, it's not a recall, it is a common problem, all they need to do is repair or replace the ignition tumbler. Simple fix, poor design!

I had a similar problem. Not sure if you have an auto or manual but with the auto the shifter contacts for park do not always engage. The car will turn off but key will not come out. I needed to have the shifter replaced to correct the problem.

same thing happened to me.. dealership in Georgia took 4 ******* days to fix it.. then tried to charge me for the rental car. If you're gonna let it sit overnight either disconnect the battery or plan on needing a jump in the morning.

That is incorrect. The 2.4 SS/NA comes with the option for an auto trans. The SS/SC and SS/TC are the only models that do not come with the auto trans options. With that being said an SS can be an auto but most of the time it is not.
