Hi! Should I toss some grease in the hole where the front ball joint takes the knuckle? None was present when I took it off, and there's no mention of it anywhere I've looked, so should I just leave it alone and install the knuckle?
#6 the ball joint itself is greased, but what I mean is, the ball joint shaft that the knuckle sits on - is there grease in the knuckle part that accepts the shaft - is it greased? I'm thinking it can't hurt if the knuckle rotates on the shaft to have some grease in there - lithium or other grease. I don't see a way for the grease to stay in place.
I'm putting everything back along with new brake calipers, pads, good bearings.
Can't trust my torque wrenches - sat for 10 years. Does anyone know if spraying penetrating oil into the unit will help or hurt it.
Before putting back the axles I'm going to clean out in the gearbox hole using a Q tip - careful not to leave cotton - clean everything and wash it with some synthetic oil for gearboxes and axles.

The shaft on the ball joint does not rotate in the knuckle, the ball joint itself is what allows the ball joint shaft to rotate relative to the control arm. However, I still put a little grease on the shaft to aid in installation and removal from the knuckle.
