um, I realize in order to keep compliance with your warranty you have to use Dex-cool Antifreeze but there is a known problem with the Dex-cool Antifreeze. If you replace it with conventional antifreeze it won't eat it. Also, be sure to check your gaskets. I've already had to replace some gaskets because the dex cool ate it.

I haven't touched it. Everytime the low coolant light comes on, i bring it to the dealership cause a car with 12k,18,22k(all the times the dic has said low coolant has come on) shouldn't have coolant problems. Also, i'm not interested in fixing it...the dealer should be. Thats why I was asking about the lemon law and breach of warranty portion of it to see if anyone has had any claims against chevy.

wow, this is new to me.

When I bought my car it had regular green antifreeze in it. I got dex-cool put in because I thought that it would work better and is what should be in the car in the first place. I did get lower temps, 215 to around 180F now.

Now im regretting it...

dex cool has been eating gaskets since they started using it. particularly the older 3.1 v6's it would eat their intake gaskets alive. it also crystallizes when it leaks out and causes really nice corrosion. i don't know why they use the stuff. they claim its good for 150,000 miles but i have yet to see an engines gaskets survive the 50k miles with that crap.

Just switch it to Prestone Universal coolant if they won't do anything.

I had it in my older car (3800) and it never damaged my intake gaskets or leaked.

I wonder if it is actually losing coolant, could be bad sensor. Had a 2000 mustang gt with persistent CEL, dealer I bought it from kept telling me I was dawging the car tripping the light (I wasn't) after trip 3 I decided I wouldn't take it there again, on light #4 I took it to a different ford dealer, and they found it was a bad air diverter valve switch (whatever that is) replaced it and the light never came on again. So IMO could be crappy service department.
