lock cylinder f*cked up

ok to start off i was on the way to courthouse to pay a fine(long story) and when i get there im just chillin. song i like is playin so i wait till it ends and drink some coke and when i go to cut my car off my keys.... well are missing lol. im like, WTF!!!! well turns out my key now easily sides in and out of the cylinder after i crank my car. they had apparently fallen out and went under my seat. so question. is there a way i can fix this myself? i have no kind of alarm system at all. no power locks. keyless or anything. but its gonna cost over 400 dollars to repair because the dealer has to key a new cylinder for my origional key so i dont have to buy a new one and have it programmed and be stuck with seperate door/crank keys and reprogram the sensor to recognise my key for the security(apparently) to allow me to crank the car. the part itself costs about 100 bucks. is there a way to fix my old cylinder or am i just fucked. if not oh well. least i can take my keys and stick em in my pocket so there not rattling and smakin my leg as i drive.

yeah, just roll like that. I wouldn't waste the 400 if you can still use it, at least for now.

yea thats what im thinking. i can still crank the car and everything normally. the key just can be pulled out like as if it was in the lock position. and the tumblers still only let my key turn the lock not just any key which is a plus.

If thats the only problem just keep your keep on a carabiner, that's what I would do if I already didn't

Edit: for some dumb reason I though you could push it all the way in and through the cylinder, I suggested the clip so it wouldn't fit all the way through, probably my most retarded post on this forum, so I'll keep it up haha
