Low Coolant ?

So i have a 2009 cobalt ss (mods: k&n sri, tr8 intercooler, aftermarket charge pipe, catless dp, magnaflow exhaust, hptune) and when i was leaving work started my car up and started down the street then on the display it said low coolant? first time that i have seen this before. Is this normal to happen with the weather changing or what? and i checked my parking spot no fluid under my car and the tank look like it was right where it should be with coolant (ive never had to add any before so it looked normal). If someone could help let me know if this is common or what that would be great!!

Not normal bro. How much of the warranty is left on your car? My car had a heart transplant last year, at 54k because the LNF engine block has been known to become porous and start burning up coolant. My car reached a cool 273 degrees one night on the way home from school. I was on the highway and that **** heated up VERY fast. I had to get off at the nearest exit, and call for a tow truck. Best way to know If your block is bad is to check the coolant level when the light comes on. If you have to add coolant about every 2 days, take that **** in and get your engine block replaced, hopefully under warranty.

Well I live in Fla anyway. the winter is like 4 weeks long here lol. As long as you don't get the "low coolant" light/ warning every couple of days bro.

this is the first day that it has happened to me and it just flashed across the screen low coolant once and thats it. i still have the warranty on my car until 2013. i feel like that if i take it on warranty they should be able to tell that i have a tune and then they are just gonig to throw my claim out anyways. So tomorrow should i add coolant or should i just drive it to work and see if it flashes across the screen again?

I'm not the one to give advice on the "tune" deal. My SS/TC is unmodified as of now. You should check your fluid level, add if needed, and run the car normally throughout the day. If it does warn again, you might have a bigger issue

Add some coolant and check for small leaks. If it comes back on, take the tune off your car along with any other mods and go to the dealership.

Another one with possible porres block. The 09 ss have a lot of issue with faulty blocks that develop porus block. I was the first 09 it happened to after 2000 kms. A lot of other guys had it happen to them as well. Top up the coolent, if it does it again, put car back to stock take it in for warranty, ull get a new motor. I'm sure Gm knows by now it's an issue with the 09s. Haven't heard it happen to any other year of ss
