low coolant light
Add a little extra,it wont hurt anything.
Its probably sloshing back away from the sensor.
I have an 07 ss/sc stock with pretty much the same issues.
It started when I was about due for my first oil change, so I had the dealership look at it. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with it, but if it happens again come back (well duh.)
A few hundred miles before my next scheduled oil change, I recieved the low coolant message again, so once again i took it back to the dealership. This time they claimed to have pressurized the system and still couldn't find anything wrong, they also put some type of putty/glue on the side of my resivour* cap to ensure I wasn't tampering with it.
Well, here I am due for another oil change, and surely the resivour level is awaringly low, and the coolant warning comes up every couple of minutes. I am scheduled to take it in this weekend, so we'll see how this goes.
Atleast now I know I'm not the only one going through this. I've noticed a pattern that all the ss' having these issues are all 2007 models with lower miles.
Does anyone have an older model with these issues?

Providing the level ISNT low, the coolant level sensor in the reservoir could be going bad I guess. More likely is a bad connection at the sensor or back at the Body Control Module that receives this input. Get your dealer to look at it.

PS> There IS a recent TSB indicating an on-going Engineering investigation concerning "mysterious" coolant losses on the 2.2 Ecotec. Pending the investigtion there MIGHT be implications for the LE5 ans LSJ as well

all it is is the fact that you are a little low on coolant. add a little and it won't happen again. it only happens to me on a hill. But i completely changed my coolant from dex cool to regular prestone. Dex cool sucks *****. it ruins gaskets
it doesn't ruin anything if you flush it once a year...

lol you are supposed to only have to flush it every 100,000 miles according to gm. And tell that to everyone who owns a 3100, 3400, or a 3800 and have had to spend 600 dollars for an intake gasket, and most of the 3800's also have to have the intake plenum replaced.
how much coolant are you losing? i would pressurize the system and just see if it loses pressure.

The OP is getting the LOW COOLANT warning/message even though the level is fine.
If your car is losing coolant, I suggest you get that fixed!

Not to be the 32583543 person on here to say the same thing or anything.
But, I have also seen the low coolant notice turn on, and im only at 9,000 miles. So far it has only turned on when I am on a hill for a long period or time. After a small discussion with my mechanic, we came to the conclusion that it is probably the sensor, since we checked the coolant levels.
FYI - Just watch the temp., you should be anywhere from 182-194 from what I've been seeing on mine. I'm normally at 185 F.

The last time it went in Gm claimed to have pressurized it, and couldn't find anything wrong. I took it back to the dealership today, so I guess all I can do is wait.
Do you think this is normal?
I guess we ARE on different pages, as I was responding to the original poster's questions NOT your post.

What, no conspiracy theories? Are you the moderator of DownwithDexcool.com??

All the people who were part of the lawsuit for having to replace the intake gasket and/or plenum can give you an explaination of why the coolant damaged the car. It was found that the plenum and gaskets where originally designed for glycol antifreeze and the dexcool actually ate the seals and plenum. However, this only effected the 3100, 3400, 3800 a few V8 models and the early (pre-ecotec) four cylinders. GM has changed the gaskets, heads and intakes so that the coolant will not damage the cars anymore.
been trying to figure out the low coolant thing as well
its annoying..i remember one time i was at the 1/4 mile track adn i was doing a pass and half way down the track the stupid thing says low coolant and im like wtf? lol
