MAP/MAF correlation problem- PLEASE HELP!!!!!
i have an 06 ss s/c. it only has about 25K on it and recently the factory replaced my s/c cause of an internal issue. but now the engine is cutting out at about 4000 RPM's in every gear. even as low as 3000 in 5th gear. every time this happens(which is every single day all the time) my boost gauge goes over the stock 12.5psi and goes all the way to about 15 or 16. the engine doesnt shut off, but it just kinda "floats." yesterday on the highway it overboosted and BAM check engine light and ENGINE POWER REDUCED came on. shut it off, restarted it and it worked fine. engine codes said something about a MAP MAF correlation. i dont know why its overboosting, or what went wrong. but you cant have much fun shifting at 4000. i need help cause my warranty is only a powertrain one now. please if you know anything as to what went wrong, please re-post. my wife is freaking out....
i dont have an engine code reader. i just went to checkers to borrow theirs. im goin into chevy now so ill come back later with the actual codes. thanks for the help it was actually extremely useful.
ok update... ive only had this car a couple months but the air filter has NEVER been replaced. the dumb ass mechs. at chevy spent an hour on it and still couldn't tell me ****. my guess, either the cat, or the filter causing the MAF to read lower pressure, but then the MAP reading high pressure and causing the problem. boost reached 20psi today when mech drove it. any other comments would help alot. i guess there was a throttle body code too. it says its opening and closing properly but the guy was an idiot and couldnt explain why or what the code was for...
Probably either a clogged cat or a broken valve. clogged cat they should be able to check by simply dropping it and checking it. Checking for a broken valve simply means taking off the valve cover. Neither are hard to do.
Could also be a bad MAP or MAF.
