metal rattle over bumps

Hey all,

This has been happening for the past few days, but I started noticing a metal rattling sound on the front driver and front passenger wheel assembly when going over bumps. I tried to replicate it with the wheel off to no avail (and checked to see if there was any give with the bearing, or split bushings, or a bad strut), but when the wheel was put back on, and only when it had the full weight of the car was I able to replicate the sound by knocking the top side of the tire.

I got under the car and was able to track down the source to the brake caliper, or that general location. After pulling the caliper, inspecting the pads (perfect condition), and reassembling, the sound lessened, but didn't disappear completely. Anybody have a similar issue, or find the source of the sound?

You should replace the sway bar endlinks.

Moog or similar. Make sure to get the longer endlinks for the FE3 or FE5.

This is what fixes most front end squeak. Fixed mine after many suggested it.

I've got a similar problem, but it when my left rear tire goes over even the slightest bump. I'm having trouble figuring out what it is and it is driving me nuts.

Pretty sure the end links are supposed to be the shorter ones

My balt is a 2006 ss/na, so more than likely fe3. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check them out and see if a new set works for me.

Same here. Been wondering what it js. I almost thought it was something in the trunk and not the suspension. But now that it's warm weather and the windows are down it's clearly outside the car.

So a bit of an update. Took a look at my end links, and they seem to be fine (probably will replace any who) but I looked at my control arm bushings and they are in pretty poor shape (didn't feel like blown bushings) going to replace those and see what we get as well as new end links.

After spending about an hour under my car today I finally figured out what my rattle was, the rear brake pads are rattling around on the caliper bracket, so I guess it's time to take my rear brakes apart and re-lube them.
