missfiring issues
missfiring issues
car works great. then i change the clutch and flywheel etc that whole job for my first time on the cobalt(ive changed the trans on my escort alteast 6 times). when i get done i go to start it and its missfiring. its idling like normal. i pull the code on it(forget what it is) and check online to see what its is. says coilpack issues. thus meaning via pcm, wireharness, plugs, coilpack, wires, etc.
so i reset the battery, make sure connections on pcm are good, start the car pull and replace each coilpack wire to see if it would make a difference. didnt seem to be the problem
if something works before you tear it down when you put it back together it should run right. if not its more that likely your fault and not things slowly goin out.
i just bought the car 1 month ago so i take it to the dealership and drop it off. they ask what alll i did to it. i said its got axles and mounts. i just started it in the morning and it started to act like this. so i call back 1 day later and they say it is a coilpack issue and they ordered the pact and it should be in 3-5 days. i doubt its the coilpack but if it is hurrayyy. also they say he wasnt suppose to warranty it but he is going to after seeing the mos ive done. meth intake interiors slightly stripped with wires unpluged.
but i dont they they will fix it with the coilpack so im looking for opinions or suggestions. thanks for all the help

yah an aluminum flywheel can make the car run rough at idle. I have the same flywheel (OMG I LOVE IT!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!) But anyways, the running rough can make your car think it is misfiring, in some cases. Especially if the scanner is unable to track it down to a specific cylinder. I threw a p0300 right after fidanza install.. had a couple problems. My tune had me running rich (a previous issue) and fouling my plugs, so i fixed that, but still had a problem...
We have a Tech II GM scan tool and performed a crank re-learn on the car and it seems fine, now. It needed to re-learn its new situation, basically. If that doesnt work for you, then you need to have a tuner fiddle with it.
Problem is finding someone that has a Tech II.. mostly only dealers do, but very few local shops may. you just have to call around and ask. They may charge you a labor hour to do the relearn =)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW dealer acually fixed it.
drop the car of on tuesday. i called them wednsesday and see wats up they sadi it was the coilpack. they also sadi he wasnt suppose to warrent it but he did anyway. friday comes and they call and leave a voicemail saying coil pack didnt fix the issue. they said i had NGK plugs in the car and there suppose to be idiranums or whatever. they said he wasnt going to warranty it and was calling to see if he should proceed. so im like whatever. monday rolls around and i go to pick the car up to fix the issues myself. they hand me a slip that i have to sign. i walk out and look at the slip. they replaced 1 coil pack 4 spark plugs and did a reflash and some computer work. so i go to start the car. its it works great. SWEET. so i get to enjoy my day off instead of working on a car.
ohh and it was all cover on warrenty YES
im pritty positive fidanza flywheel started the issues.
also there is a slight grinding noise coming from the clutch and flywheel....

I had a grinding noise from my fidanza for a few drive cycles. Weird.. but now it has gotten quieter than my rattle-y stock one.
I am glad it worked out for you!! I did some computer relearns and a tune up myself and am still running strong and CEL-free. =)
