So last night, I hit a speedbump kind of hard. When I say kind of hard, I mean I was going like 30 and didn't see it or slow down at all. Seems to be fine, everything runs fine, it sounds fine, idles fine... But while I was driving some "hair" was coming out of my muffler. Like a really long string of hair, I pulled it all out... Then today went around the corner for something. Another super long clump of what looks like hair came out the muffler. Does anyone know what's up with this? I'll post a pic if more comes out, which I'm sure it will. It's a 2010 Cobalt SS LNF btw.

 

So what I'm really tryna find out is, is it dangerous to drive around like this until I can get the muffler replaced?

OP - This sounds like packing material from either the muffler or resonator.

 

Or the grudge?
