Question Is My Clutch Going?

this is my first manual car. i have know idea how you can tell if your clutch is going.

2.2 with injen CAI, SS/SC header and muffler. 65k Miles

i get like quick rev then decrease at around 3.5-4rpm. its like the motors putting out so much tourqe that the trans cant keep up.

the sernerio is im getting on the High way behind some slow people whith car in thrid around 3-3.5 rpm. till i get to the opening that i can gun it. my foots not on the clutch pedal but when the rpms reach some where between 3.5-4rpms it seem to race up then fall back.

only happens in 3rd gear!

what is your opinon?or could it be because my car sits outside 24/7 in this cold?

So you are saying that the car is reving but you don't feel any acceleration? That would be the clutch slipping.

sounds like it is slipping, the reason it only does it in 3rd and only starts at a specific rpm is because the load is just right and the motor gets to its peak torque at that point. if you dont step on it hard and baby it through were its now slipping, it will likely last you a long time yet.

start saving up

so if it was his slave cylinder how would he be able to tell it's that and not his clutch.. basically what are the symptoms of a bad slave cylinder and what is the remedy / price to fix etc.

slave cylinder will have high engagement and weak pedal pressure ... as well as you might have weak brake pressure as well ... getting a mech to check it out

yea dood i agree with Sharkey. just be nice to the car and don't drive all gun hoe. do only 5 mph over the speed limit or conserve your gas and do the speed limit. you'd be suprised how much gas/engine performance is saved just by taking it easy.

ok well this will surpise you guys it was a heck of alot warmer today the car did not slip like it did yesterday. and it feels like the brakes are working better than it did with the below 0. so it could have been cause by me washing the undercar and driveing it out in -2. no its not the slave cylinder. i am a mech but a trainee. who knows but thanks for the info.

if i do get a clutch do you think Spec stage 2 plus is a good idea? and what flywheel should i get?
