Need help with code P0449

P0449-Evap Solenoid malfunction. What exactly does that mean? The car is bone stock. Not a mod on it.

It exactly means what it says. There was a malfunction in the EVAP Solenoid. This means that its bad and you need to replace it. After you get gas at the gas station and you go to start your car, the solenoid engages and allows vapors to the intake manifold to be burned. If this solenoid is not working it can vapor lock the engine and it won't start or be very hard to start. How many miles you got on the thing?

41000, and it isn't something like the gas cap not sealing? It's more internal than that.

If it was the gas cap not sealing it would set a p0442 or p0445 for small and large leak respectively. The code is for the EVAP vent solenoid control circuit. Most of the time it is a failed vent solenoid, but it could be in the circuit, and I have seen some needing a new ECM.

I get this code too, I just bought my car, it had a camshaft sensor code, fixed that, still choking, sometimes even die. Does this P0449 code have anything to do with the car choking etc. I put a camshaft sensor in it and thought my mechanic said that would fix the problem but I get the Evaporative Emission control system vent valve, solenoid circuit malfunction code
