Problems/Service/Maintenance Do you have problems with your new 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4L? What kind of service did you have done?

Need opinion on diagnostics software.

Need opinion on diagnostics software.

Amazon.com: ElmScan 5 Compact USB OBD-II Scan Tool & OBDWiz Engine Diagnostic Software (423001): Automotive

In the above link you will see a very inexpensive soultion to diagnosing problems and monitoring the internals of your computer's ECU

For a cheap, basic use system..

What are your opinions on this

for less than 40 bucks....

or the more advanced software which I'm tempted to purchase right now.

Let me know your thoughts

Dude I wouldnt get it. If your trying just to read what kind of codes.. thats fine then. but if you want to see EVERYTHING in your car you are going to spend some money. I have an AUTERRA one for my Netbook. WORKS WONDERS I can set parameters see codes.. do live tests.. see live data. put different loads on the car. I can basically see almost everything. I paid 200 for mine... with free updates to new cars.. I also will be buying an update for ABS and SRS so I can have control of them to. Just an opinion. the product your talking about is ok for a code reader..

If you're looking at just pulling codes and getting a snapshot of your car's fuel trims, a/f etc., get the ELM. The ScanTool reader can pull information much faster so if you'll be doing and data logging or monitoring, it will be the way to go. I currently have the ELM and the Torque app on my phone, and for logging it only updates parameters every 1-2 seconds. Not too useful considering a 2nd gear pull only takes a few seconds.
