Need some suggestions
So, ever since I bought my car, I have done all the maintenance on it. Well, two weeks ago, I got around 10% oil life, and I knew I needed to change it.
Then we got dumped on with snow and ice.
Needless to say, I wasnt going to be able get under there to change the oil. So I took it somewhere to get the service done.
The idiots didnt use all of the oil I gave them, and I confirmed on the dipstick that the level was low. I added the extra oil, confirmed three times that the level was right, and went on my merry way.
Well, over the last three weeks I have been getting the low coolant warning. Everytime I check the level though, everything checks out, both in the resevoir and in the intercooler.
Today was the first time I have had to take a really good look at it though. so i pop the hood to take a look, and what do I see? A thin layer of oil on my valve cover.
So I check the oil level, its right about where it should be. I check the oil cap, its on tight, and the gasket is still in place. I checked the filter conister, and I at least cant move the top with my fingers, so I think thats on tight.
My next guess would be the PCV valve, however I cant find one to speak of.
So my question to everyone is, what could be causing the oil to blow onto my valve cover?
I cant see where its coming from, unless its coming out of one of the lines from the supercharger.
Any ideas as to what might be causing this?
Thanks in advance!

it happens occasionally with these cars... PCV system really can't handle that much added pressure, so it pops the dipstick every once in a while on some cars.
other than that, I really haven't seen it spray op; from anywhere else

have you gotten the message since adding more?
Umm. looky! I can quote posts too. It was a simple question
I read the rest of your post too
Both my 05 and 07 has the same thing. You can clean the oil residue off the valve cover but within the next oil change, there's more residue on it. No solid drops of oil just a bit of oil film on it enough to collect dust.
Is that how yours is?

The amount of oil on there is enough that you can clearly see its oil and no other liquid.
I never had the problem before letting someone else change the oil.
I am going to clean it up, and keep an eye on it.
That should narrow the possibilites if the same "pool" reappears.
I just wanted to get a preliminary idea of what the issue could be.

I spilled some oil on my valve cover about 2-3 weeks ago, cleaned it up right away. The other day when I opened up the hood the valve cover still had the oil residue on it but it also trapped some dirt in there making it look darker and more serious. With that being said, the same thing may have happened to your car.
