Oil Change Problem

My mom's friend just got finished telling me that after the first oil change there have been two people that have had the oil leak out of the engine. Her son works at valvoline and said valvoline already had to replace one engine, because the dealer says it isn't a flaw in their product. Another cobalt motor is pending. When they send the car away it has oil and runs fine then the next day people find oil all over their bottom splash guard. Has anyone heard of this? I don't know what motor or year the cobalts were though.

well if you don't tighten the drain plug or don't put the o-ring back on the top of the oil filter cap it probably will leak.

sounds like not putting the oil cap on.

As engine runs, spews oil all over the engine. Then in runs down the engine onto the splash guard. Never had a problem with Valvoline, it probably incompetant workers, not the oil.

Would not try to remove/install oil filter housing cap without the special socket...taking a big chance of messing it up w/o it. Got my off the MAC tool truck for $22= money well spent.

could have picked one up at pepboys for $8 the product is called rite fit and its shallower than a socket so you can get into tight spaces!
