p0446 is evil!
p0446 is evil!
This is all started because of crappy BP gas. I was BELOW empty, and it was the only gas station around so I had to stop. Immediately after filling up i threw a cel. Checked the gas cap and it seemed alright. So the other day I took it in and threw a p0469 (or whatever the vent valve code is). I replaced it, no problems, took all of ten minutes. Reset the car, everything was good for about five minutes. Cel came back on so I took in again and it threw the p0446. Not a biggy. 5 minute replacement. Checked all the lines made sure everything was looking alright. No leaks kinks or anything. All good...for about five minutes again!
Just got it scanned and its a p0446 again! The valve i replaced it with was definitely brand new and looked to be in good shape. Should I check and make sure that it is getting powered? or is there anything else i can do before i try to replace the valve AGAIN? Or could it be something other than the valve itself?

long story short at the bottom:
so...the vent canister is only covered under the bumper to bumper. which im way over. well. im throwing the p0449. i thought it was the 446. but as i said, i already replaced the vent valve. then the purge valve. now it says the vent valve again? lame.
now, i had a mechanical boost gauge hooked up. but i removed it a few weeks ago. i cut about an inch off the vacuum line in the engine bay to hook up the gauge and add the t in there. well when i removed the gauge i had no way of putting that inch that i cut off back on. so it isn't super kinked or anything, but the vacuum line is bent pretty tight right where it goes into the manifold. someone told me that that could possibly be causing me to throw the same code. anybody have any idea on this?
Long story short:
Threw p0449. Replaced valve. code is still there. Checked lines. Tight bend in the vacuum gauge at the manifold. could it be causing the code?

yea worst case scenario is monday bringing it the dealer. only thing is, if i buy all these parts to try to fix it i wont have money to buy the **** lube before my dealer trip lol. so im trying to pinpoint anything else it could be before i start getting more stuff
we use a machine called a nitrogen smoke leak detector at gm to diagnose this.
To check the electrical you will need a GM scan tool because you have to command the valve on and off.
Basically you did it backwards by replacing parts before diagnosing, but really theres not much you can do without the right tools anyway.
