Parking brake issue- only one wheel locking

So I've had an issue with my parking brake feeling soft for a while now, it hasn't been holding my car unless it's all the way up and I just discovered the issue today. While I was re installing the rear tires, I noticed that the driver's side rear tire spins regardless of whether the brake is up or not while the other tire stays put. What could be the issue and how would I go about fixing it?

a very simple check before you go condemning parts-- pull the rear tray out of the console and check the cables and bracket

I just checked the cables hoping that the driver's side would be loose, they're both attached. The caliper is working fine though, when you hold the brake pedal both calipers do what they should. Unless the line is loose from the caliper end maybe?

Huh, I think this is the caliper that I had to have changed when I bought the car about 9 months ago...regardless, I guess I'll have to take it to my mechanic to see what's up, thanks man.

Just a idea did you maybe check the brakes on the side that isnt locking maybe the brakes are worn out on that side and need to be replaced

Pads on both sides were replaced when one of the calipers was replaced, so both sides are about 9 months old in terms of pads, but I'll check that tomorrow as well just in case.

I had the thread yesterday. It's something internal. Non serviceable parts.

Someone mentioned the last thread a couple posts down. That was my thread. Same issue you have.

Your caliper is shot. It's internal and you are not able to service it. So you need a new caliper.

In other words. Don't waste your money paying a mechanic to tell you the same thing everyone else has already said.

Well the caliper could work for braking but the parking brake uses like a spring on the caliper so its different. When mine were shot i just replaced them. Yolo

Yup two different systems use the same piston. Mine still moves through the full motion on e brake just nothing engages.

I talked to my mechanic neighbor about it yesterday and he agrees that it's the caliper.
