Pinging Sound?

i have an 06 LT to start with. when i shut the car off for about 2-5 minutes it makes random pinging sound, kinda sounds like a bell. today it was doing it even more. i dont know if it was a combo of the rain, slush, and the cold that made it do it more today or not. ohh there was also a little bit of steam coming out of the driver side wheel well. anyone have an idea of what it could be? or if anyone else experienced this.

thats your exhaust heat shields contracting from the heat. alot of cars do it.

Yup. exhaust cooling down and contracting. Worse in the cold. Normal.
