Problem with 3rd Gear?

Does anyone else with an SS/SC have any problems with 3rd gear feeling like its grinding when you are just crusing around in gear? When I accelerate it's almost like it's trying to slip out of gear with a low grinding noise? I'm having it checked out by the dealer anyway just seeing if anyone else has had the same problem!!!

I've noticed that my shifter has more movement and vibrates more in 3rd than the other gears. No grinding yet.

What I have found... Not sure why. But if I try to slip it into gear.. 1'st, Reverse from a stop and it doesn't want to go let the car roll just the smallest bit and it should slip right in. I'm not sure of the cause but I have had that multiple times.

Never had it pop out of a gear though. That I would be at the dealership for in a heartbeat.

BTW just beat 600 miles.

Well I have just over 900 miles... And driving on the highway tonight on my way home it is doing it in 5th as well! It is like a light grinding noise... no problems shifting though, although getting into 1st is sometimes a bit difficult untill I shift into 2nd then 1st! I don't know going to the dealer tomorrow will let you know what they say!

Those that hear a grinding while in gear and in motion, can you describe what it sounds like? I have what soulds like a grind/rattle that is intermittent but loud. It's a difficult noise to describe, but it sounds awful. Thanks for the help.

Well for me it is while I'm in gear... it is a low grinding noise (kinda' hard to describe!) but not really loud... I can more feel it in the shifter than hear it!

M-dub, next time your out on the road and driving beside a concrete divider, put your window down. I can really hear it when I do this and it sounds horrible. If you think of it, post back what it sounds like, I'd appreciate it!

I can't hear it like that! I can't even hear it when I have my windows down! I have to turn the radio off and roll up the windows and then I can barely hear it!!! I can more feel it in the shifter than anything else! I took it to the dealer and they said the 3rd gear is normal because of going in and out of load... but the 5th gear he hadn't heard of.... But they are really backed up with tranny problems, so they said it would be a few days before they could look at it!
