problems with Cobalt...what to do???
O.K. my base Cobalt has been in the shop about 3 times already and tommorrow will make it the forth. I bought the car back in April and since then it has ran hot, had ingnition problems, cat emissions probelms and now who knows now what the problem will be. I bought a new car to get away from all of the problems that old cars have and now I am stuck with it anyway. A new car with only 24,000 miles on it should not be having these problems. I already contacted customer service at chevy and have my complaints on file. I don't know what else to do.
i have had minor issues with my SS, it idles wierd sometimes, the vinyl on the door pillars is peelin/ bubbling and the right insert on my wing isnt glued in properley, i have an appt mon to fix all thse but other than that no real problems.
You know, I really must be the only person out there who hasn't had an issue with my car from the factory. I mean I've have my car vandalized (someone ripped off my rear bowtie emblem) but KNOCK ON WOOD, my car doesn't seem to have any problems and I've had it for almost a year....
05Cobalt: A lot of engine troubles are usually caused by either over driving the car, improper mantenance , or not getting mantenance done at your dealership.
I'm not accusing u of anything but those are the most common reasons why engines have troubles. I'm just responding to your rant.

06 ss/sc 3500 miles. I have not had any problems with my car either. Its been perfect since day one. Only thing that is scary is I swear my car has a shopping cart magnet built into it, cause it doesnt matter where I park, when I come out of a store theres always a damn shoping cart near her
yea, but at the same time I think people are like "damn that car is hot, let me drop my cart off over there and then walk back to my car"
but it gets anoying, first thing I do every time I come back from a store is check my car for scratches, so far scratch free

well you also have to take into consideration that it is the first year of production and that there are always inperfections that need to be worked out in the starting stages of production that will not occur in whole line. remember its being built by machines and machines fail/have problems like anything else so some get the troubled cars and some dont. its doesnt always have to be a driver error
^this is also true. Don't forget that the Delta platform these cars are built on has been around for years as well as the ECOTEC engine...they just haven't been in a chevy configuration till 2005

no h in ecotec there buddy
As long as you are keeping track of the problems you will eventually be able to file the paperwork claiming that the car is a "Lemon" It takes quite a few trips (10+) I believe before you can file, but just keep all of your paperwork.

each state is different but i could swear it is ~ 3-10 times over the US. It also has to do with the type of problem that is reoccuring.
As for the idle I think its normal if I think I know what your refering to. When you give your car a shot of gas depending on how much gas you give it, it will idle high to burn off the remaining fuel it has been fed. That is normal. or when you get into a stop in forst or secon and step on the clutch late your idle will suffer. Other than that and on startup when its cold it will start on 11 and drop to 9.

I drive to and from work, to and from the babysitter to pick up my kids, and other misc. places. I don't race it 1. because its a four door base-model car and also I have a 93 probe gt project car for that. The only thing I have done myself to this car so far is change the oil and I have been around cars long enough to at least do that correctly. I understand the whole "its the first year production car" thing, but with all the complaints and similar situations I have heard....Chevy has a lot of work to do.
as for the lemon law just keep in mind it has to be 3 repair attempts for the same problem before they will do anything about it. working at a dealership i found that 1 person once in a blue moon would get their car bought back...so good luck.
