Problems with Cobalts ss/sc

My Cobalt has become a lemon. Build date: 5/05
300 miles,
Huge run in stock paint/ painted rear taillight section, decklid, passenger side up to front fender.
300 miles,
Discolored rim, took them 3 months to replace one rim. Still the wrong color. 3 months later they replaced all 4 wheels.
1000 miles,
Hard cluncks from engine compartment, and various other spots in the car.

After 6 months of owning it, and they finally fixed the cosmetic problems (cool, I get to enjoy the looks and performance at the same time, WRONG), it started with a cold start problem.
12,000 miles,
Cold start problem. Electrical problems; temperature gauge sticking.
The dealership has replaced the valves (didnt see 1 fouled spark plug), coolant sensor, mass airflow sensor (replaced the 1 fouled plug), dropped the gas tank emptied it and refilled it, replaced all the plugs, replaced the coil packs, replaced the computer. They have had the car for 2 months now and they still cannot find the problem. The last call I received from the dealership, they wanted to take the car to their proving grounds to "do some more tests." I had to go to rental car place inside the dealership the other and was told that the GM engineers are fighting over the problems with this car. Lame...

I've let GM know that the car has serious problems, no response. Hired an attorney and still no response from GM.

I guess I had to buy the most fucked up Cobalt ss/sc that GM has built to date.

Good Luck with your Cobalts..........

good luck. A quick call to customer service stating your displeasurement of the car will quickly turn things around if you haven't already. Another thing I would do is have your attorney write a formal letter stating that it has to be fixed by a specific date or you want a new car or money back, explain the issues with it since owning it. Never give them the car and say fix at your leisure or accept that they will hold on to it longer then expected.

Also, get a printed list of all the issues with the car and have dates associated to the letter and have that be submitted as well. By no means is it acceptable for them to hold on to the car longer then a week. Unfortuane part is listing all the issues you've had doesn't really account as a "Lemon". Lemon is when something has broke (same thing) several times and repaired with new parts or comparable, It also has to show a history of service related repairs that adversly affect the performance of the car.

That is exactly why I just traded it off. I didn't have engh to use the lemon law. Ironically, my yellow SS/SC build date was also 5/05. The car was fine until I hit 5k...... Two failed o2 sensors, spark plugs fouled out, exhaust leaked, sunroof trim fell off twice, everyweek it was something different for 2 months and usually it was a lean code cause of the dipstick, speaking of...the oil dipstick would not stay in place after first oil change. Once a week I had to push it down if not more. Oh, and my clutch was failing at 6k.....I got pissed off one day and traded it in on an '05 Mazda 3S.
