I had a similar experience....it was raining hard one night....had the car parked outside....went to drive it in the morning and it was lagging big time....the night before i went through a lot of puddles at about 45-50 mph (bad roads...losts of low spots). it drove fine when i parked it. dunno what happened...i have a stock intake for the sec. so a bit of moisture most have gotten into somewhere that the car didnt like....it seemed like i was driving a stock honda! no power!

i know that i have went to an automatic car wash, the ones with the undercarriage wash, and it sprayed enough water up into the filter area that my car died. so i can see where just getting a good "dip" of water would do this to your car. dont worry, your car will be ok when it dries out, just try to stay out of the puddles.

i did the same thing in my car, and honestly, the puddle was only about 7-9 inches deep, rolling threw and no more then 5mph. **** happens sometimes. I didnt hydrolock but i came damn close, fouled 2 plugs and my airfilter was wet on the bottom. It can be done, water is a very sneaky little fluid. Since then i dont drive my car when it rains, and have a fear of driving thru any kind of puddle no matter how deep it is. BTW i have the stock airbox on my car. I know everyones gonna call BS on this post but i have friends that were in the car with me that were just as stuned. I've heard you can removed the spark plugs, remove the fuel pump fuse, and crank the motor over a few times to dry it out.

Yeah, it will burn by match, But not by a spark alone. It burns safer because it's not as explosive as gasoline. It burns really slow.

Back in October, I was coming home from work in the rain and a field on this straightaway had overflowed because of all the rain we had. It was sort of foggy and I was going waaaaaaaaaay too fast... I was doing over 80mph (i was in a hurry) and just basically saw the "ROAD FLOODED" signs as I hit the water. It had to be almost 7 to 8 inches at least of water. It almost stopped my Cobalt dead! I went from maybe 75 to 35 in a few feet. Blew water over the car, it was madness... The Cobalt never stopped, I just dropped into 3rd and kept on going. A friend of mine coming home from his job was behind me in his Skylark and said that my tailights were there and the SPLASH! I was gone, there was just this big splash... and then there I was still rolling. I hit so hard, it pulled 3 clips out of the front inner fenders! Didn't seem to do anything else to the car.

Anyways, that's my wet story...

i noticed that once we put the k&n intake on the goat she's had a problem going through one of the local car washes but i figured out the problem....the ram air hood has two plastic inserts which can be removed for more air and we forgot to put them back in while going through the car wash...the check engine light was only on for five minutes though so that was no porblem, and so far i've had no problem with the cobalt and i went through some pretty hefty puddles on the parkway on christmas
