quick question about coolant pump

ok i have tried everything i have read about from searching forthis but i cant tell if my pump is working or not no matter how much i put in it i cant see it in the neck and i tried to listen to it but couldnt hear anything and the only reason i think it might be working is b/c when im parked my coolant temp goes from 182 to 194+ or so and the reasson i think my pump still works is because if i raise the RPMs to about 3k and hold it there the temps drop back down to 184ish so this means my pump is working right? im fixing to get the OTTP h/e

Which pump are you talking about? The water pump (on the engine) or the intercooler pump? Those temps on your DIC are telling us your regular water pump is working (you'd know in a hurry if it wasn't) but the intercooler system is completely separate.

if you crawl under the car with the car running (unless you have it enabled on ACC through HPT) then you can place your hand on it and feel it running.

If your IAT2 is 190 then goes down when you give it some gas, that's normal. Fresh (cool) air is being pulled into the engine, so the temp should go down.

The most failsafe way to determine is to stick a clean drinking straw into the fill neck while the engine's running and see if it gets tossed around. Personally I don't know the difference between a working and dead pump by touch, which is why I always favor sticking something in the stream and seeing what happens.

Agreed. I think I only got mine up that high when I was idling in the drivethrough for like 15 minutes. Maybe he was actually talking about coolant temp and not IAT2? That would explain the high numbers.

Craig, are you coming to Kileen this weekend? I'll check your pump for ya.
