Hello all just purchased a used 2007 cobalt ss supercharged. The radio wasn't working when I got it. Ive done a lot of searching on this problem and found acouple threads about it but nobody ever said what fixed it! The radio has no power wont turn on. no chime when doors are open, no turn signal noise. I checked the radio fuse and amp fuse they are fine. any suggestions? FYI I love the way this forum is set up so far.
Oh also I read acouple threads about the anti theft being activated when the battery was changed. idk if this is it but it doesn't say any anti theft codes anywhere,

Could be that the radio is locked (theft mode) or i just doesnt work

That would suck if it didn't work. I like the looks of the stock radio. Is it a common problem for it to go bad? how can I tell if its theft locked and how to unlock it? Thanks

I actually had mine do that after my battery died once on my old cobalt but i got a new aftermarket so never fixed it but everything was fine fuses and electrical wise

The issue is that it's theft locked. More than likely the person you bought it from had an aftermarket radio n it and took it out prior to selling it. When you take the radio out it goes into theft mode and has to be unlocked at the dealer once it has been put back in. They will match your vin to the radio if this is the case. Just call the person you bought it from and make sure that they took an aftermarket out and replaced it before selling it to you. It's an easy fix.
