Today, while driving, for some reason the gages dropped back to zero and began to twitch, also the display indicator kept displaying "power steering" and "low coolant" even though I had full control of the wheel and the coolant was at 180F. I pulled over and turned off the car then started it up after about 5 minutes. It was running back to normal but then as i was looking at the coolant temp. the temp kept raising even though I was idling. it got up to 215F then I slowly drove home and let the wind cool the engine down. While stopped at traffic lights, the temp kept raising. once home, i waited half an hour for the car to cool then started it up and now the coolant is remaining at 190F.
Im not sure what this is. I put in a new battery 3 weeks ago.
Has this happened to anyone?

 

I had the same problem with the gagues awhile ago that foreshadowed the power steering needing to be replaced. The coolant sensor is pretty sensitive so even if it is a tad low it will go off. If they both came on at the same time with the twitching issue it probably won't be worth looking into unless it happens again otherwise no one will probably be able to diag the problem if it is not currently happening. As far as the temp at idle mine gets as high as 221 on hot days with long idle times. While the car is moving it stays between 185-190.

 

Check your battery connections.
