Hey my car is still under warranty and will be making an appointment, but was looking for any suggestions to what may be going on. My ss/sc is misfiring and only at around 23000 miles. There is a rattling noise coming from around the valve train area in the motor. Anyone else ever have this issue

What rpm does it misfire at? Do you hear the noise on the passanger side ? Might be a timing chain issue, those have know to go from time to time.

 

its real low when the car is first started the rpms jump up and down a little then it calms down. but there it still that like rattling/tapping noise. its right over the valve cover

are you sure it's missing? how do you know? are you sure it's not just the rpm's jumping up and down at idle, which is very common in the cobalt? the engine is very loud. hearing sounds from the engine is not unusual. just want to make sure you're not mis diagnosing.

 

on mine at WOT at about 5k rpm...its like it skips sometimes

 

if the car is missing it should be setting of a cel. if it is a miss, i would start with the basics like checking spark plugs, injectors, and ignition coils.

 

mine is wierd tho..at about half tank the CEL pops up and when i get to about quarter tank it goes away EVERY TIME

 

just to let u know got it checked out.. it was the 42 pound injectors. i guess they're supposedly a lil louder? lol
