Relay ticking
Relay ticking
Ok, so for the past few months i would hear a tickering in my car, at first it would only happen a little bit and stop, but now the relay goes haywire everytime the car shakes, it only happens with the power on and i don't exactly know what its for, I found the relay, its in the fusebox in the passenger panel. The diagram doesn't really represent the box very well, but from i can see, it says fuse plr. So my question is what the hell is it for. I dont want to take it out until i get a new one
lol, I hope your reading the back of the cover wrong. Fuse plr should be a yellow or white tong looking things to help pull your mini fuses out. Figure out where that is (hopefully its still in there) and then compare that to where it says fuse puller and figure out where the ticking relay is from there.
What year/model? I can check mine tomorrow but I have an ls, not sure if it'll be exactly the same for an ss or not.

Well that's what I thought originally but I didn't see any fuse pulled in there and it's shows the shape of a relay. If you look you'll understand my confusion the digram isn't very helpful
See the mine is place, the no.1 is exactly where the relay is. My fuses are mostly in the right. The only thing on the diagram that Lois possible are 30 31 or 32 but where it
Describes them there already is fuses in place

I really find this hard to believe. Can you take a picture of it? The only thing I can think of is if someone owned the car before you drilled out the slot for the fuse puller and made it into a space for a relay for something after market. What year submodel is yours?
And away from the ticking, when you say shake do you mean from a bump in the road or something mechanically wrong with your car shake?

you don't have any malfunctions when it starts to tick? Your probably going to have to start playing with things when it starts to tick. IE turn your fogs on, wipers, anything and everything and see if anything doesn't work.
Normally when it ticks its when its tripping. So it would have to be on, and then be shut off by the ticking relay. So it should shut power off to whatever it is it controls.
Are there numbers on the relay? You could always try just replacing it. Or pulling it out to see if something stops working. If you loosen the fuse box you can try and follow the wires back to where it goes. Or maybe pull up a wiring schematic up of the fuse box. But again, if it shouldn't be there it wont be in the wiring pic.
