yes, and then climbs all the way to redline if i let it. So it only does this rpm drop once, so its not like a flutter where the revs are bouncing up and down.

ok that clarifies alot actually. from this clarification it almost certainly rules out the clutch. as suggested earlier replace your fuel filter and see if the symptoms persist.

its sounds like a dead cell in your maf or ve mapping. Ore even the ve going into maf cells. It also could be a dead part in the injector or a dead connection point in the petintiometer in the gas pedal,or in the t.b... If at all possible do some logging and show us, or at least a vid. itll help greatly!

You are from port Perry? Go see John and he will fix you up. It may cost you some bucks if you catch the mod bug while you are there

Sorry, didn't notice you just joined. John Powell runs powell racing out of Port Perry. One of the top Cobalt guys anywhere. People travel 100's of km to see him and he is in your backyard.
Also look on the OCC forum. I know there are a couple other people from Port Perry on there.

did u ever fix the problem??/ I have 50,000 miles on my 06 sc and it does the same thing. Leaving from first gear pretty aggressiveley is no problem, then when i go to second it's not bad either, but riding to third on up at a relatively normal speed and then gunning it is the problem. when i get to about 3300 rpms, the car revs high and then catches. its like its stalling out, then wanting to haul ass.
HELP!

i really think that its the fuel thats getting cut/losing pressure thats causing this. you guys need to either hook up a tech II, HPT or a pressure gauge to the fuel rail to determine if this is correct or not. it explains the symptoms

i did not read through this whole thread. so i dont know if you have solved your problem.

ANYWAYS

You are lucky as hell to be in port perry. if you cannot find out the problem, you have a very friendly, very knowledgeable, very helpful person in your backyard. Qwikredline, aka john powell. he and his son, the owner of powell race shop, are located in port perry. If you cannot find out this problem yourself, i have a very good feeling that John will be able to, or atleast lead you in the right direction. John and PRS built the Time Attack cobalt. he knows the ins and outs of this car.

Give him a pm if the answer you need is not in this thread already.

Also if your not already on it, there is a local forums for ontario. ontariocobaltclub.com

Possibly just a fuel filter? Which (ideally) should be changed every 20k
