Rev Limiter

I was messing around with an SRT 4 on the highway. I obviously had no chance I was just messing around. I don't know what I did, but the last thing I knew the engine revved to 8000 rpm's. Where was my rev limiter when I needed it?

Like I said, I had no chance. I have an LS stock. I didn't want to race, my car is debadged so he thought something that wasn't. Anyway, why would the rev limiter not work?

That's a good question. I don't even know what the limiter is on the LS, but I would try it again under a controlled situation, and if it still bypasses what the limiter should be, take it to the dealership.

Maybe shift into 3rd rather than 5th, or 2nd instead of 4th? In that case the car will push the engine well over redline, the limiter only stops fuel, can't stop the car. If that's not how it happened I'd be happy if I were you, just use a bit of caution.

I did that with my sisters 95 Eclipse GS. Let me tell you, that N/A 2.0 @ 9,000rpm (redline at 7,000) was not near as loud as my sister in the passenger seat.
