Rough Start after refill

So for the past two months or so my car has been acting pretty funny. Out driving one day I noticed on the display that it said "check gas cap" so i pulled over took the gas cap off and put it back on and the message went away.

The next day I the check engine light comes on. Took it to autozone and threw p0496 and p0455. They cleared it and I went on my way. This whole time the car seems to be running fine.

I go to fill my tank up and after I filled up the car had a lot of trouble starting. Once it actually fires I have to sit there and rev it for a little to keep the car from stalling. Once it sets to an Idle the car runs great. It does this every time I put gas in my tank no matter how empty or full the tank was before refilling.

Also when my car sits for an extended period of time (over night) and I start it, the car's idle bounces and black smoke comes out the exhaust and you can smell the fuel. After about 10-20 seconds it returns to normal. WTF!

Once again the car seems to run perfect at all other times. What Gives?

Mods that would have relevance.... GM stage 2, Injen Intake.

After class bump! Please help!

From what Ive been reading I believe the issue is with the EVAP High Flow Purge Valve. It is some sort of emmissions piece. Ive read that the valve might be stuck open. Good news that Ive read is that the part is cheap

I just recently had this problem on my 2.2. I actually just had it in the shop on Monday and I had to have one of the solenoid replaced. I was having the same problem, after filling up I would have a hard time starting my car, but after getting it started it would run fine. Autozone will be able to tell you what code it is. And yes it is an emission code and can be just the gas cap, but it can be more. You may possible have to have your car connected to a smoker system to make sure there are not emission leaks anywhere.

That is something that I am not familiar with in doing myself. Well what will most likely happen is they will do a full diagnostic on your car to figure out what is causing the problem and at the end for me the total bill was $300.72. The solenoid itself was about $50, but it is mostly labor is where they will probably get you.

I took mine in under warranty. They said the "evap purge valve" was stuck open. They didnt show me where the valve was but they said it is an easy fix, and is apparently fairly common. I am not sure if they just fixed the part or replaced it. Did a quick search and found this diagram. I also believe the part is very cheap.Like $15-20.

I don't like to read....
I set the page to text 2 speech so I can be lazy...

not really.........

anyway I think is being spoken of, on the lsj is the part behind the tb which has
one line running to the front from the bypass, below that is a little filter, and one line running from the intake manifold to the rear of it...

if not maybe it is the one beside that one...
