I just bought a 2005 turbochagred cobalt. I am having problems when going into second, its been grinding. No trouble when I take off from a stop but otherwise downshifting into second it grinds. Once in a while a have some problems with first... what do i do?!?!

 

take it to the dealer, nothing you can do prob unless u can rebuild a transmission

Turbo? If it is def don't wanna take it to a dealer....unless its 08 +

 

it's supercharged, he only has 1 post.
the dealer likely told him it was turbo'd, if it was actually a turbo setup he should have stated he did a custom turbo install on it, which voided his warranty

 

No its turbocharged.. I got it from a dealership, the previous owner traded it in... and I am a she.

trust me i know.. its an 05.. Its not a stock 05 turbo, I know thats not possible. Its an aftermarket turbo.. 2005 Cobalt LS Sedan Garrett Turbo Kit running at 10PSI

thats a tough one, warranty is obviously void, im REALLY suprised a dealer even bought and then sold this car...

if 2nd gear is grinding, could be the syncro, try cracking the tranny open and see whats grinding - i hope this isnt a DD b/c your trans may be going

 

syncro....it happens with these trans...has since the j-bodies.

 

k well ill be getting that checked out thank you all.. ya when i bought it from the dealership they really didnt know anything about the car. I had to get ahold of the previous owner to really find anything out about it.
