Service ESC after lowering
Service ESC after lowering
So I did a bit of research on this forum and others but have not found a clear answer yet.
The situation is: I lowered the car on SSC lowering springs just before busting it out of winter storage. Ever since, I am getting a "Service ESC" DIC message every single ignition cycle.
I have not yet got an alignment but will in the next few days. It definitely needs one after lowering as my steering wheel is angled >30 deg when going straight.
I suspect that the Stability Control system is taking in the steering angle data (which is wrong obviously) and throwing the msg, but I am hoping someone else can confirm that the alignment should fix this issue?
Will I also need to recalibrate the steering angle sensor after alignment or should I be good to go after alignment?
And finally, I don't think I messed anything like the ABS up when lowering, but could that also be a factor??

hmmm, I'll look into the wheel speed sensors. I didn't purposely unplug or mess with any of the wheel speed sensors, not even sure where they would be (guessing by the abs mount?)...
It only says "Service ESC" then "ESC off" and the traction control icon lights up. No ABS lights or undesired ABS events.

The sensors are part of the wheel hubs, the wires run up along the brake lines to the body and back into the harness. Hopefully you just unplugged one, if not you might need to pull the error codes and see what fault it's indicating, that will point you in the right direction and to the right corner.
Yeah a basic handheld won't see it, it won't pull the BCM errors for ABS/ESC. I have a simple one that doesn't see them, if I use the big scanner at work it will show a wheel speed signal circuit failure or something.
