Slight Rattle from exhaust (LNF)

Hey guys,

I was looking for tips on how to narrow down where this rattle I have with my exhaust is comming from. I only get it when I go very slowly in 1st or reverse, or when my rpms are falling and get to 2k or below. My guesses are that it's hitting...

1) Heatshield
2) Axle
3) the small box just behind the axle (sorry for nubness, but I have no idea what it is)

What are some steps I can take to try to find what it's actually hitting?

thanks!!

esink

It's an MPx Turbo-Back. OH! I never thought of looking up by the Cat I did bend the heat shield back by the axle, but not up near the cat.

If it's hitting the axle you would hear it while driving too. Mine likes to bump on the rear axle a bit. Just a shallow bend in the pipe right there. I get the same occasional rattle on take off and then almost every decent sized bump I hit.

mine was near the end of the downpipe, the first section of exhaust. just feel around with your hands if it feels close just push it in.

How do you mean "in" Do I want to make the heatshield closer to the downpipe? O_o

No push it closer to the exhaust so it rattles more...
Just kidding. Push it away from exhaust. Trim excess with tin snips. Don't cut off too much

Solved. I discovered that the bank 2 O2 sensor was jarred loose. when rpms started getting low it would wiggle around causing a metal on metal noise. Just tightened i up with an o2 socket, and it's all good to go!

i was about to say, check ur rear o2. same thing happened to me. sounded terrible and almost like flywheel chatter. got nervous, put it on the lift, revd engine and heard it through the echaust, found the rattle tightened the o2 and went on my way.
