Someone Please Help I Have Problems

not sure if im in the right place, but i just bought a 2007 ss with the lsj and it has about15,000 miles on it. the check engine light came on so i took it to the dealership and they said it shows fuel trim system too rich in bank 1. the tech that looked at it said i would have to take it up there and leave it with him a whole day for him to find the problem. at a idle you can feel the car run rough and "skip like" and when you get on it full throttle it sometimes surges bad in high rpm range. also last night i noticed it will start getting up to about 230 degrees when sitting still and when you go down the road it cools back off so i replaced the fan relays but it didnt fix it. does anyone have any advice?

Unplug the battery for 10 minutes to clear the code, and see if it comes back. That's really the only advice I can give you right now. What was the exact code that it was throwing? Pxxxx? Could also be a stuck injector.

temps have nothing to do with it fans turn on at 236 or something like that.

Okay, do not unplug the battery. Let the GM tech work on it. They need the codes and history data in the computer to do their job properly.

You did not need to replace the fan relays, that temperature is normal.

Your fuel issue is actually a common problem, and I believe GM did release a new flash for the ECM to address it. Just let the tech do his job, bring it in, and let your warranty do the work for you.

True. If you are going to get it warrantied then do NOT touch the battery.

i dont remember the exact code, but it is stock. and yesterday i took my intake tubing off and my throttle body to clean it and my throttle body and intake tube had oil in them...does anyone know what that means?

well I can't really answer your questions, but mine started surging badly in high RPM range, right before the engine went the first time. I wouldnt even know where to start telling you what causes it, or if that even had anything to do w/ the engine blowing. I know in my case we were able to trace my problem for the engine blowing back to a completely defective/clogged oil filter(brand new). But I dont know if that had anything to do w/ the car surging

Check to see if your intake filter is oiled. If so, somebody changed it from the stock dry filter before you bought it. You can not use an oiled filter on this car.

Check ur MAF sensor. Mine did all sorts of crazy stuff when my MAF went shitty.

it had the stock filter in there. and when i got the car it looked like no one had ever changed the oil in it so i changed it and i put some lucus in it. do you think that will hurt it? and yes it does have a idle problem as well, and not everytime but sometimes it has a huge delay and hesitation when you get on the gas.

I have the same issue as you, my check engine light went on i brought it in and they told me my car was running rich... So fixed it by replacing my MAF becuase it was bad, and told me the reason I was running rich was becuase my engine wasn't getting enough air from the intake.. I have a K&N CAI which is an oiled filter, and it has a hydrosheild.. they took that off the filter and it improved.. they told me it was my filter that isn't letting enough air in... SO your issue might be the mAF and someone using an oiled filter... BTW what do you guys suggest as a replacment filter, cuz i guess having an oiled filter doesn't work very well with the ss/sc.

If you're hitting 230 that means you're i/c pump isn't working but that's a different problem altogether. Rich could be a problem with your maf, tune, fuel pump, injectors, etc. Rich just means you're burning more gas than is necessary + performance isn't ideal.

230 water temp and incooler pump have nothing to do with each other. They are separate systems. A temperature of 230 at idle is perfectly normal.

As for the oil in the intake, remove and clean you MAF. If the duct and TB where oily, then it will be too.

ok everyone i really appreciate the help. ima clean my maf and see if that helps if not i will replace it, but right now it has a drop in replacement K&N air filter

You nailed it there with the MAF. I also suggest cleaning the MAF, do that and I bet your problem goes away. I believe the rich code is P0172, do you know if that is the one it threw?
