Speedometer isn't functioning

I own a 07 SS/SC and I had to replace my clutch recently. I ended up doing it with my dad and after putting it all back together I noticed my speedometer wasn't working. I also get a power steering failure and a check engine light periodically. It goes away sometimes and my speedo will actually display (not correctly) something. I took it to Pep Boys and they said the sensor had a high resistance, something like 4k ohms when it should be around 1900. I replaced it twice and when I checked both with a multimeter, they all had 4k ohms.

I'm out of ideas, I've checked the connection and everything. Could it be something within the gauge cluster? If so do you know how to open it?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Not to be funny but you made sure the VSS was hooked up and connected properly? Also did you check the connector and harness for shorts and everything? Maybe you damaged something upon removal of the trans?

Yes I hooked everything up correctly. I do sometimes get a reading on the speedometer, it's just not correct. I don't think it's shorted, I'd have to check again but if it is damaged, it's at a place I can't see without taking the whole transmission out again and that just doesn't sound like a good time.
