It's better if you can find 93...you'll get knock below that.

You can probably find some 93 or 94 if you look hard - if not, you may have to use octane booster. The other option that would be more permanent for you would be water injection (doesn't have to be meth). Or you could go further and do dual-pass, H/E, and meth or water injection. Those will lower your air temps and should eliminate knocking even at 91 octane.

One would hope that GM dealers could install their own parts correctly, but one would be disappointed when many can't.

take it back up there. but more than likely i would say it is the injectors. stock ones are loud enough on these cars, let alone the 42.5'ers

Could be the injectors or the timing chain tensioner . Does it do it all the time or only on a cold start?

when i picked up my car it was making a wierd ass noise too.. i left it running and called the manager over and he was like can i help you? i told him to listen and he said damn that sounds like ass. i said yea it wasnt making that noise when i brought it to you. so he had the head installer take it to the back and he routed some hose wrong that was supposed to be routed another way. it was rubbing on the transmission or somethng he said, but i think he was full of ****. i stayed for an hour after they had my car for 2 weeks, bitching them out.
