stalling in an automatic?

Hey everyone, ran into a problem that i cant seem to find any mention of in the forums so i'll bring it up here. Long story short i was throwing a CEL saying that my MAF was malfunctioning...replaced the MAF and that still didnt solve it so i went ahead and cleaned my K&N intake filter with their cleaning kit....CEL isnt being thrown anymore but now when i floor it from a dead stop im getting a lag between when i press the gas and the engine actually revving up. Anybody ran into this problem before and if so any suggestions on how to resolve it? thanks in advance

Cool, thanks scooby...on a side note i forgot to mention that every now and then i can feel the engine seem to stutter slightly when accelerating slowly...would that also have to do with the TB needing cleaning?

it could yes. I had a similar problem with a grand am and it helped. actually if i remember correctly. With my issue it was cleaning the MAF sensor with electrical parts cleaner that did the trick. None the less. TB cleaner is fairly cheap, so give it a try and see what it does.

ok everyone, starting to get a little frustrated with this issue...i havent cleaned the TB yet but i was testing the car out again this morning and the stupid CEL came on again with the same code for the MAF malfunction. Mind you it only happens under WOT but its getting really annoying seeing that everytime i want to push the car even a little, any suggestions welcome and as always thanks in advance

yeah i hear ya there, speaking of which though....does sea foaming our engines hurt them at all in anyway, just curious cause i had some tech at a dealer tell me that sea foaming my engine is probably what caused my SAI pump to fail before i had it replaced

Ok so took the TB out and discovered it was caked with something that resembled axle grease and was just about as hard to get off, but with a little work and some TB cleaner i was able to get it all off and voila! she runs like a champ now, but just for extra precaution i went ahead and ran some sea foam through the vacuum hose and was also surprised to find that apparently my engine was really dirty too as it didn't stop puffing out carbon residue smoke for at least 15 minutes. Runs a heck of alot better now plus no CEL being thrown now too thanks everyone

yeah im glad they arent either, if it's one thing i've learned about this car for thetie i've had it, most problems that happen with it are really easy fixes most of the time. A little off topic, i got back from the nissan dealer where they made a really rediculous offer on the appraisal of my cobalt...mind you my car is in very good condition and they only wanted to give me $1500 for it....i didnt know whether to be pissed off or start laughing at the guy as i had just look up KBB for an 06 2.2 which was rated at $3k for trade in value
