Start-up Issue
Hope someone has heard of this. I searched, but couldn't find anything.
I pulled my car out on the driveway to wash it yesterday. When I was done, I went to pull it in the garage, and it wouldn't start. I got a "check engine" light, and couldn't hear the starter motor turning. At first I thought maybe the battery had died or I got water in something, but I have interior lighting and power accessories and the engine compartment was totally dry. I had to hold the key in "start" for like 6 seconds, and finally it turned over and fired on the fourth try. This morning it did the same exact thing. Took a few tries until my car fired up.
And yes, I have the clutch down when I am starting. Also, the check engine light (CEL) goes out once it fires. Hopefully my dealer can read the code that it is throwing.
I am taking it to my dealer, to see whats up. Just thought I would ask if anyone had this issue with their SS/SC.
Thanks,
Dustin

My dealer thinks that it is maybe an electrical connection with the starter motor. I am taking it to them tonight after I get off work.
Don't know how I posted 3 times. Sorry. Deleted my other two.

I just had the same thing I would drive the car for like 5 min and then turn the car off, and when I would go to start it again all the lights and everything were fine but wouldn't even crank. had to replace the clutch switch and one of the metal prongs in the connector was bent so it would make contact only sonetimes.
My dealer has it. It has done it 4 times in the last 24 hours, so I hope they can fix the problem. I too was thinking it was the clutch sensor. We'll see what they say. Obviously something electronic, cause once the starter motor engages, it cranks and fires as normal.
For now I am stuck with an '02 Civic Si 5-speed as a loaner!
Not to bash Hondas, but the clutch offers no feel, shifting is like rowing a boat, the interior is just as plastic as a Cavalier IMO (sorry C&D), and power............well, lets just say it leaves much to be desired! I like my North American cars I guess!
