Steering Rattle
Steering Rattle
My '06 SS 2.4 has the infamous steering wheel rattle. I can only hear it at low speeds on rough roads, especially going down my gravel driveway, it rattles like crazy. It's a hollow rattling sound.
Dealership has replaced the intermediate shaft twice, no help. I removed the 60amp EPS fuse under the hood and it seems to make the noise worse. I can hear the noise with the car off if I shake the steering wheel back and forth, but it doesn't really make the noise when shaking the wheel with the car running (and the EPS fuse in).
What do you guys think? Steering column? If so, is it worth having it replaced? Or will the noise just come back soon after? There's also the risk of the techs messing other things up in the process of replacing the steering column. I've gotta decide quick - I'm at 34,900 miles!

man, it's been pissing me off ever since I got the car, dealership as well warrantied the steering shaft but right when I pulled out it was rattling again, took it to two other shops and they couldn't figure it out, I would love to know what it is, can someone have others drive their car slowly on rough surface and listen and look under the car, mine sits low so I can't really see much but my friend is going to drive it arond my rocky driveway with hood open and maybe I can find something.
For all the pros, make us a list of things it could be and well start checking/testing and eliminating
