Stereo Problems:/

When its cold out my radio doesnt work......my speakers make a "popping" noise............it does it when its under 50 degrees. SOMETIMES if i have my ipod on and a good bass song before i start my car it doesnt make the popping noise....i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem or what i should do.

I have an 07 ss if that makes a difference

This is a big problem with the cobalts. I have actually upgraded the stock speakers and while I was in there I found what the problem is. The stock connectors that actually plug into the speakers are quick connect and for some reason after awhile they begin to short out. I just cut the connector off and crimped it and have not had a problem since. If you take your door apart and wiggle that connector you'll see thats where your problem is.

the door panel is easy to take off. its two screws and then just pops off. the screws are behind the door and and the part you grab to close the door. after removing those two screws the door pops off easily.

The connector issue in the cold is caused by contraction of the plastic connector ,if the two connectors are of a different type of plastic one will contract more(get smaller) than the other and will become loose.

But then they could be poor fitting from the start,or getting corroded from moisture.
