Stock shifter questions.

This question is regarding a 2006 SS S/C non-G85.

Anyone with an SS S/C notice that shifting from 2nd-3rd and from 4th-5th that the shifter rarely wants to glide from 2-3 and 4-5 with one smooth motion and gets caught on the edge of the "gates"? Like sometimes you have to shift up, over, up very deliberately in order to go from 2-3 and 4-5 without it catching.

Anyone else's SS S/C do this?

Would correcting this be a matter of cable adjustment? Anything I could do about it?

are you shifting up and over or just straight up? Maybe your not shifting over far enough and your missing the gear

I'm noticing similar quirks with mine. The most noticeable is when shifting from 1st to 2nd - the shift feels notchy, it doesn't engage 2nd cleanly at all rpms. The problem doesn't happen when going from 3-2 though. That problems more annoying because I do a lot of city driving.

Relating to the initial question, I notice that when going from 4-5 you really have to push the shifter over to the right and then up to engage cleanly. But usually I shift quicker when going at speeds that require 4th or 5th gear so it could be the way I shift.

No...not really. I can see the 4-5 shift a little bit, but not THAT bad. (BTW: I have the B&M)

Well at least this shows I'm not alone and is probably nothing to worry about, just gotta get used to it.

No, not just pushing it straight forward. You know how from 2-3 in almost any other car you can just push "forward-pause-forward" into 3rd, basically one motion instead of going "up-over-up" very deliberately? Every single other manual car I've driven has no problem with that, but when I do it in the Balt it snags on that gate between 1st and 3rd.

Either way, it sounds like it's not really a problem, just something I gotta get used to in my new car.

FYI I'm pretty sure this transmission came from the chevy Colorado truck. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I read it in some magazine when they were testing the car. So being a truck transmision at heart it is going to be a bit notchy. After a while I felt like I got used to it, and I'm happy that I know the transmission shouldn't go any time soon.

To alleviate the 2-3 shift problem, the B&M short shifter helps out tremedously there. It is more noticeable on the stovk shifter setup however.

Yea my shifting pattern is notchy as well. Going from 1st to 2nd especially when cold is a pain. I sometimes cant get mine into reverse. It is definitely not smooth as my camaro's T-56 was.
