Stock SS/SC Belt slipping. Plz Help!
Okay, I've had a few problems with my car in the past few months- nothing big. CPS, a few sputters, what not. Got them fixed finally. Then today, just accelerating as normal- first gear felt a little slow, not much. Noticed my s/c whine was louder than usual. Then in second, at about 4500 rpms car sputters and loses power- feels like belt slipping. And does it in 3rd gear too. Haven't gone higher than that today. Is that just my belt slipping? It is still under warranty and I'll take it in in the morning- just wanted some opinions on what it could be. Thanks guys!
The boost seems to go up like normal, maybe a little slower,' until 4000-4500 rpms. Then it drops suddenly like the car isn't getting gas. So I'm wondering too if maybe it could be the fuel pump is clogged or bad gas. But as for the s/c whining, it almost sounds like when bearings are bad or something like that. But my car only has 24,800 miles on it. They shouldn't be bad yet right? And to top it all off the lady at the service department says "I don't know if your warranty is going to keep covering this car, since you bought it used." That's why you buy a car with a warranty! UGH! This crap sucks!
take it to the dealer. 36k mile bumper to bumper, whether you bought it used or not. Sounds like the ecu might need to be reflashed maybe. You can check to make sure the belt is all the way on the pulley and is seated right.
It's already at the dealership right now! I work fast lol. I looked at the pulley and belt. They both seem to be normal but who knows? This car has been in the shop 4 times since I bought it one month ago. I'm getting aggravated with it!
OK the verdict's in. Clogged cat, bad ac compressor, and it needs a fuel system clean. I'm willing to bet the guy before me kept putting cheap gas in it and built up carbon. Then when I got it and started putting high octane gas in it and driving it daily, it broke up the build up. Oh well, thank goodness for warranty!
