Stuck Driver's Side Rear Caliper (No eBrake)
Stuck Driver's Side Rear Caliper (No eBrake)
I have a 2006 LSJ, noticed that the ebrake stopped working, you can pull it all the way up and the car can still be moved. Not good.
Anyway, since we have a self-adjusting ebrake in the SC, I assumed this was due to a stuck caliper. I took the car for a short drive, sure enough, driver's side rotor hot as hell, passenger side, not bad.
Now, I've done the rear brakes before, just wondering, are there any special considerations I need to make? I believe this caliper got stuck very recent as the ebrake has been working up until the last few days.
I am going to jack up the car, take off the tire, remove the caliper and grease the pins. The caliper only has 67K Kilometers on it, I assume it just needs to be greased up, it looked awesome when I did a brake job just 5 months ago.
Any advice is appreciated.

I assume, if it is causing an issue, I'd want to loosen it off, drive the car a short distance, then tighten it back up?
Cheers

Similar situatio happened to me at about the same milage on my 06 SC. Except it was the passanger side. That side wasnt releaseing. Just like you discribe, but I dont remember it ever being hot because I never checked that. But anways, Yes you should replace that caliper. It's not that difficult. Also, like the OP said, check under the brake handle and cup holder. Chances are oneof the cables came off of the balancer clip. That happened to me as well makeing the handle not tight to pull.
