Summer love for the Cobalt
Summer love for the Cobalt
So, this summer has been quite nice for my SS/TC /sarcasm. For the most part, my car is stock. I have GMS1 and O.Z. Ultraleggeras. Starting sometime in June, my car started boosting funny, followed by the famous CEL and the P0234 code. So, I took it into the service department. They checked it out, cleared the code, and told me it happens sometimes. A day later, it happened again. Brought the car in, they checked the sensors and 're-did' them and cleared the code and said I should be good to go. Less than a week, it happens once again. Bring the car in, they replace the turbo and tell me I'm good to go. Less than a week of driving, it happens again. They keep the car for a few days, not having any ideas of what it is. Finally, they decide to solder the wires on the map sensor. Well, that seemed to have fixed the issue. However, when they did that and I picked up my car, the front passenger head lamp had a huge build up of moisture. So, once again, I brought the car back in and had them replace it. When I went to pick up the car, upon inspection, I found that they had damaged the area around the headlamp. It honestly looked like they had wedged the headlamp in there with a flat head screw driver as well as they didn't even re-align the headlamp (it was aiming lower than the left headlight). So, I had to make another appointment to bring the car in and have the body shop fix it. Well, last Wednesday (when they fixed the bumper), I went in to pick up the car. The vehicle was in their garage area, so lighting was limited. I inspected the bumper to make sure they did a good job. They even wiped the car down and polished my rims and tires. So, I went home and showed my father. He points out that the front left rim has curb rash. I inspect it and sure enough, they curbed the rim. They hit something hard enough, that it cut into the rim protector on the tire (Goodyear Eagle GT). So, I brought the car in the next morning and pointed it out that they nicked my rim. At first, they thought I did it. I told them that had I done it, you would see concrete marks on the tire and rim as well as the cleaning finish on the rim and tire would not be in perfect condition with no signs of touch up. Furthermore, I'm not the typical douche bag that would nick a rim and then blame it on someone else. I'm more ethical than that. So, this morning, I take the car in and they have their rim guy (3rd party company) come and inspect it. Come to find out, they're just going to go ahead and order me a new rim. So, let's see. New turbo, new map sensors, new front passenger headlamp, and new rim within the last two months, all covered by warranty.
So, out of all of this, since mid June, I've put on less than 300 miles on my car. I've driven 2 HHRs and 2 Cruzes. Is it just me or is this a bit ridiculous? Overall, I'm glad that this has all been covered by warranty (including my aftermarket rim). I'm just a bit annoyed that my car has spent this much time in the service department for the last two months. There were a few times I was about to straight up just trade the car in for something else. People have told me to go to another dealership, but that's a bit hard when you work 40 hours a week and have 2 classes (Mon-Thur) in the evening and the closest dealership is between 20 and 40 minutes away. Doesn't help that if you bring the car in Saturday, they really can't work on it.
Just wanted to share my experience with the GM service department. In the end, I'm glad that their service department has been patient with me as well as worked with me (Probably has to do with one of those phone surveys I did a while back). I sincerely hope that no one else has the same misfortune as me. I love my car. I want to love my car. But when I bring the vehicle in for warranty work and receive the vehicle in a different condition than I brought it in, it starts to become a real problem/headache.
/end rant(?)
