Sunroof Rattle

I've got the nortorious sunroof rattle. I only have 700 miles on my cobalt ss/sc, and the other day I was driving and noticed a rattle coming from somewhere. I thought at first it was the dash but after i went over a hump I heard something like it was getting ready to crack. So I opened up sunroof door or wahtever you call it and I noticed that I could push up on the sunroof and have it move rather easily. I left the door open for a bit and I noticed that the sound was coming from the sunroof for sure. I have searched and read some responses to this problem, and I have made an appointment to have it checked out and fixed. For those of you who have had this problem and had it fixed waht did they exactly do to make it go away.

The tech that I talked too said it was most likely the sunroof cable was loose therefore allowing the sunroof to move and that they would have to adjust it. Does this sound reasonable or is there something else that needs to be done?

take it to the dealer and let them drive it and see whats wrong. Then have them fix it, and if they dont fix it keep taking it back.

I tried taking mine to the dealer but it would never do it when they drove it. There's a thread i started and there are suggestions in there.

I thought mine was rattling too but I think that it is the rubber seal rubbing between the sunroof and the car. When the sunroof is open it does not make the noise but if it is closed I can push on it and it will make the noise.

Not sure if it is the same noise you are experiencing but thats what mine does.

sunroof rattle

try using some silicone paste and gently wiping the rubber weatherstrip around the sunroof.
