Synchro Problems... need some advice.

Hey,

Im a newb, and I have only had my 07 SS\SC for about a month...before that I had never driven stick and used to drive a GMC Jimmy (junk). About a week after I got the car I noticed that the stick would feel like there was a wall in the way when Id go to shift sometimes, especially shifting 1-2.. I asked some people who had driven stick for awhile and most of them seemed puzzled by it, and another friend who drives an Accord said he gets that too sometimes, and told me not to force it when that happens.. which I wouldnt do anyways. About a week ago, I was feathering the gas at a light in first waiting for the light to change and out of nowhere I hear this lous bang sound that comes from the shifter/engine area or somewhere in between... So I keep driving, and it rides fine... a few minutes later I got on it hard and it was perfect. Lately the wall problem has been more often when shifting and in more gears than just 1-2... It never really stops me from shifting completely, but it makes me wait for it to sync up and makes me drive like crap. Now anytime Im at a light and shift into first I can here a subtle thud as the gear drops in... this was never like that before... So today I called the dealership to make an appointment cause Im worried if I keep driving like this Im gonna kill the tranny or synchro.. and also, it just sucks when your shifts arent smooth. Anyone know what the fix is for a synchro that isnt synching? Ive heard this problem is kinda common with balt SS\SC's so Im wondering if anyone knows what can be done short of a new tranny to fix??

Also.. I read somewhere else on here that someone was saying the revs drop too slow when shifting 1-2, so its hard to get a good, qucik smooth shift on a 1-2.. and I totally feel the same way... I cant seem to avoid a jerky shift from 1-2 unless Im slow with the shift and slow off the clutch... I usually rev up to 4K comin outta first and it doesnt seem to matter what I do, If I shift at lower, or higher RPM's the revs wont come down fast enuf to meet the 2nd gear point without having this dreaded lag time in between or jerking the car cause I let it in gear while the revs were still too high.. Anyone have these problems at all?? COuld this be related to my synchro issues??

Sorry for the long post... But you guys are pros and I value your opinions.. Great stuff on here.. Tons and tons of useful info..

Oh yeah, my sunroof button is totally crooked.. works fine but definetly a bad install.. figured Id share since people like hearing about issues coming up with balts. Peace!

i think your second gear syncro is going. U had my tranny replaced because of this. thats how it started.Just dont get any mods so they wont blame it on them once your tranny goes.
